YouTube has announced the global rollout of its Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature for all users on iOS and Android, without requiring a Premium subscription. This update allows viewers greater flexibility in consuming content, enabling them to minimize a video into a resizable floating window that continues playback even when leaving the app to use other applications. The company confirmed that the rollout has already begun and will gradually reach users worldwide over the coming months, emphasizing the need to update the application to the latest version to ensure access to the feature as soon as it becomes available.

Clarifications on Feature Limitations

Conversely, Google, YouTube's parent company, clarified that the PiP feature will not include music video playback for users outside the United States who do not have a paid subscription, with the same restriction applying to Premium Lite plan subscribers. The company also noted that the feature primarily works with longer videos exceeding ten minutes, meaning some shorter clips may not support this mode at present. This change is considered a positive step, particularly for international users who previously lacked this essential content viewing functionality, thereby enhancing their daily user experience.
