Tarek Soliman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, confirmed that Egypt's National Veal Project primarily aims to prevent the slaughter of young calves weighing less than 100 kilograms. This initiative seeks to fatten these calves to reach 400 kilograms, marking a significant shift in meat production.

This approach represents a crucial step towards achieving self-sufficiency in red meat and reducing reliance on imports, while bolstering the nation's food security.
