LONDON, UK — Ekhbary News Agency
The United Kingdom has summoned Israel’s chargé d’affaires in London, as international outrage escalates over a video posted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The footage shows Ben-Gvir taunting activists detained after a Gaza-bound flotilla was intercepted, a move that has drawn sharp condemnation globally. This aggressive posture, for what it's worth, risks further isolating Israel on the world stage.
Global Condemnation and Sanction Demands
Global outcry continued as Israel began releasing hundreds of activists who attempted to breach the naval blockade of Gaza, with authorities preparing for their deportation. Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, requested EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas discuss sanctions on Ben-Gvir for "unacceptable acts" against the flotilla in international waters. Poland’s foreign ministry also called for a ban on Ben-Gvir entering the country, citing the video depicting him mocking handcuffed and kneeling detainees.

UK's Stance and Netanyahu's Response
Britain’s Foreign Office issued a statement harshly denouncing the treatment of arrested activists, emphasizing that "this behaviour violates the most basic standards of respect and dignity." Deep concerns were also raised regarding detention conditions. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while defending the flotilla's interception, stated Ben-Gvir’s actions were "not in line with Israel’s values," instructing prompt deportation of activists. This internal criticism highlights the growing pressure on Tel Aviv.
