The Washington Post reported on Sunday that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, discussing the war in Ukraine.

Citing sources familiar with the conversation, the newspaper stated that Trump urged Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine.

Media reports also indicated that Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, expressing his support for Kyiv.

U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced on Sunday that the White House plans to spend the remaining $6 billion allocated for supporting Ukraine before Trump’s inauguration in January. He warned of the global risks of ending U.S. support for Kyiv.

Speaking on CBS’s Face the Nation, Sullivan stated that President Joe Biden would discuss key foreign policy issues with President-elect Trump during their meeting on Wednesday in the Oval Office.
