YouTube has taken action against Explosive Media, an Iran-affiliated group that gained significant online traction for producing AI-generated videos in a LEGO animation style. These videos frequently targeted US foreign policy and specifically President Donald Trump, often portraying him in a critical and satirical light. The content frequently accused Trump of initiating conflicts to divert attention from domestic issues, resonating with a large online audience and amassing hundreds of millions of views.
The platform's decision to suspend Explosive Media's channel cited violations of its policies on spam, deceptive practices, and scams, as well as "violent content." This move has drawn a strong reaction from Tehran, with the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemning YouTube for "suppressing the truth" and "shielding the US administration's false narrative from any competing voice." While other social media accounts associated with Explosive Media remain active, the YouTube ban highlights the ongoing digital "meme war" and the platform's role in moderating content deemed violative of its community guidelines.
