WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, has begun testing a new paid subscription tier known as WhatsApp Plus. Initially, the service is being rolled out to a select number of Android users, with plans to extend support to iOS devices at a later stage. The subscription aims to offer users a richer experience through exclusive customization options and advanced features.
Reportedly, WhatsApp Plus will unlock a range of perks, including exclusive sticker packs, diverse app themes, custom application icons, and premium ringtones. Users will also benefit from the ability to pin up to 20 chats and apply custom settings in bulk to multiple chat lists. The monthly cost is anticipated to be around €2.49, approximately $3, positioning it competitively within the market for premium app features. Notably, this new subscription is currently exclusive to the standard WhatsApp Messenger and does not extend to WhatsApp Business.
