Egyptian Ministry of Interior security forces successfully uncovered the details surrounding an assault on pedestrians in Cairo, following the widespread circulation of a video across social media platforms. The footage depicted an individual throwing bottles at citizens and verbally abusing them, a behavior believed to be aimed at extortion. Despite no immediate official reports regarding the incident, security authorities promptly initiated an examination and investigation upon detecting the viral clip.

Investigations led to the identification of the person who posted the video, a female student residing in the Al-Marg police district in Cairo, and her mother. The mother confirmed that the individual seen in the video had verbally assaulted her and her children, threatened them with harm, and thrown empty bottles at them. Based on this information, security forces apprehended the suspect, an unemployed man residing in the same district, with three empty bottles found in his possession. When confronted, the accused confessed to committing the act as detailed in the investigations. All necessary legal procedures have been taken against the suspect, and he has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further inquiry.
