Sudan — Ekhbary News Agency

Sudan has accused Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates of direct involvement in a drone attack that targeted Khartoum airport on Monday, leading to the recall of its ambassador for consultations. The Sudanese army spokesperson, Assem Awad Abdel Wahab, stated that "documented evidence" confirms the two nations' "direct aggression" against Sudan, emphasizing that this act "will not be met with silence."

Ethiopia Denies, Issues Counter-Accusations

Addis Ababa vehemently denied Sudan's accusations. In a swift response, Ethiopia counter-accused the Sudanese army of providing arms and funding to militants in the Tigray region in northern Ethiopia. The Tigray region experienced a devastating conflict between its forces and the Ethiopian federal army from 2020 to 2022, adding a layer of complexity to the already strained relations between the two neighboring countries.

Diplomatic Repercussions and Regional Escalation

The recall of the Sudanese ambassador for consultations signifies a serious diplomatic step from Khartoum's perspective. These developments point towards a potential escalation in relations between Sudan and Ethiopia, with the UAE now implicated as an accused party. This broadens the scope of the crisis, potentially affecting broader regional stability.
