Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Renard affirmed, "We must conclude this tournament in the best possible manner." He elaborated, "Football demands pride even in the most challenging circumstances, and we must confront these situations with dignity until the very last moment." Tunisia prepares to meet the Netherlands following heavy losses: a 5-1 defeat to Sweden and a 4-0 thrashing by Japan. The Netherlands, in contrast, secured a significant win over Sweden and drew with Japan in their previous outing.

Renard shed light on his decision to take on the Tunisian coaching role at this juncture, revealing he received a call from the Tunisian Federation while observing the World Cup in Senegal, following the departure of former coach Sabri Lamouchi. "The World Cup is an exceptional event for me, and I am fortunate to participate," he stressed. It goes without saying, Renard believes now is not the time to discuss his future with the national team, asserting his full focus remains on the upcoming confrontation. He also conveyed a message to Tunisian fans, expressing his embarrassment after the Japan match and urging the team to strive for a positive result in the final game, however difficult the task may seem.
