Malho: True Patriotism is Manifested in Sincere Actions
Syrian artist Qassem Malho presented a deep human vision on the concept of patriotism, affirming in a post on his Facebook page that love for one's homeland does not require resonant slogans or flashy media appearances. Malho explained that true patriotism is not measured by fiery speeches or bidding wars, but by simple actions and sincerity in dealing, away from any attempts to impose a single pattern of expressing belonging or patriotic inspection committees.
Malho added in his post: "It is beautiful for a person to be patriotic without hidden agendas, and to deal with others with sincerity and a smile without interests." He pointed out that the ways of loving one's homeland are multiple and different among people, and that each individual expresses their belonging in their own way that stems from their heart.

Malho concluded his message with a purely humanitarian morning greeting, saying: "Good morning to you and to the homeland without ulterior motives." This simple call reflects his desire to see love for the homeland free from any personal calculations or purposes, and to be purely for the sake of the nation.
A Rich Artistic Career
It is noteworthy that artist Qassem Malho has a rich artistic history. His latest distinguished work was his participation in the character of "Abu Abdullah" in the series "Exiting the Well." Although the direction did not serve the work as required, Malho managed to give the character special depth through his intensive preparation and study, which contributed to presenting it in a complex and three-dimensional manner.
The character "Abu Abdullah" embodied a religiously conservative man, but he was not affiliated with Al-Qaeda organizations. He had a deep understanding of the conflict between different parties and tended to adopt moderate solutions and dialogue in light of the complexity of the scene. The character also reflected an internal conflict between reason and emotion, which made his positions fluctuate according to circumstances. Despite the limited directorial tools in highlighting this dimension, Malho succeeded in conveying it to the audience in a spontaneous and simple style.

Artistic and Cultural Impacts
Malho's statements come within a broader context of discussions about identity, belonging, and patriotism in the Arab world. In a related context, the departure of Syrian director and radio personality Mazen Lotfi constituted a qualitative loss for the Arab media scene, after a professional career spanning more than five decades, which he dedicated to serving radio drama and developing its tools.
On the occasion of World Theatre Day, multiple Arab theatrical voices intersect to form a complex scene reflecting the reality of this art between harsh challenges on one hand, and a deep determination to continue on the other. Director Zouhair Qanou expressed his opinion on the Syrian drama season for Ramadan 2026, considering that the season largely reflects the country's state, with its beauty, chaos, and fatigue, in light of the difficult circumstances Syrians are experiencing.
