Prominent Egyptian film director Khaled Youssef has announced he will chair the official competition jury of the Rotterdam International Film Festival, scheduled to take place in the Netherlands from June 10 to 14. Youssef revealed this esteemed appointment via his official social media accounts, expressing his delight at the invitation extended by Dr. Khaled Shawkat, former Tunisian Minister and MP, and Syrian filmmaker Rosh Abdel Fattah, the festival's artistic director.
Concurrently, Youssef also received an invitation from the esteemed Algerian critic and intellectual Mohamed Allal, governor of the Annaba Festival in Algeria, to attend this year's edition. The Annaba Festival will celebrate the centenary of Youssef Chahine and feature Egyptian cinema as its guest of honor, running from April 24 to 30. Youssef emphasized that both invitations hold significant personal value, not only due to the stature of those who extended them but also because of the prominent position both festivals occupy on the global cinematic landscape. This announcement follows the considerable success of his latest film, "El Eskandarany," starring Ahmed El Awady, which was recently released in cinemas.
