Hasanuddin University Confucius Institute Opens New Teaching Point at Enxing School, Deepening China-Indonesia Cultural Exchange

JAKARTA, Indonesia – June 4, 2025 – In a significant stride towards strengthening educational and cultural ties between China and Indonesia, the Hasanuddin University Confucius Institute inaugurated a new teaching point and HSK test center at the renowned Enxing School in Makassar on June 3, 2025. The ceremony, attended by over 100 dignitaries, educators, students, and community representatives, underscored the growing importance of Chinese language and culture in the region.

The event drew a distinguished roster of guests, including Dr. Akmal, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Hasanuddin University; Mr. Xiong Jinggang, Party Secretary of the School of Civil Engineering at Nanchang University; Dr. Wu Xiaoling, Chinese Director of the Hasanuddin University Confucius Institute; Dr. Lia, Indonesian Director of the Institute; and Ms. Ingrid, Chairperson of the Enxing School Makassar Board. The presence of the entire faculty of the Confucius Institute, alongside representatives from Enxing School's teachers, students, parents, and the local Chinese community, created a vibrant and culturally rich atmosphere.

The celebration commenced with spirited performances of traditional Chinese lion dance and Indonesian traditional dances, setting a festive tone that highlighted the blend of cultures. Ms. Song Wenjie, Associate Dean of the School of International Education at Nanchang University, delivered a congratulatory speech. She expressed Nanchang University's warm wishes for the new teaching point, emphasizing that its establishment would offer Enxing School's teachers and students enriched multicultural experiences. Ms. Song affirmed Nanchang University's commitment as a Confucius Institute partner to provide steadfast support for the teaching point's development through dispatching excellent Chinese teachers, offering extensive Chinese language teaching resources, and organizing summer camps in China.

Speaking on behalf of Enxing School, Ms. Ilyana, Principal of the Primary School, and Mr. Andrew, Principal of the Middle School, jointly addressed the attendees. They expressed their firm belief that the new Confucius Institute teaching point would significantly elevate the quality of Chinese language instruction at Enxing School. Furthermore, they highlighted that it would provide students with expanded opportunities and pathways to learn Chinese and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. The principals also noted that the new center would offer more convenient conditions for students preparing for the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) and YCT (Youth Chinese Test) examinations, crucial for academic and professional advancement.

A pivotal moment of the ceremony was the joint unveiling of the Hasanuddin University Enxing School Teaching Point and the Hasanuddin University Confucius Institute HSK Test Center at Enxing School by representatives from Hasanuddin University, Nanchang University, and Enxing School.
