The Egyptian local markets and rice mills witnessed relative stability in paddy rice prices on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. This steadiness comes amidst continuous monitoring by farmers and traders for potential changes, as rice is considered an essential commodity indispensable for Egyptian family tables. Latest reports indicate that a ton of 'wide-grain' paddy rice, which is highly sought after due to its size and quality, was priced between 16,000 and 16,500 Egyptian Pounds.

Conversely, the price for a ton of 'thin-grain' paddy rice, widely used in rural governorates, ranged from 13,500 to 14,000 Egyptian Pounds. For white rice, 'wide-grain' with 3% broken kernels was priced between 27,000 and 29,000 EGP per ton, while 'thin-grain' with 5% broken kernels stood between 25,000 and 26,000 EGP per ton. Retail prices for thin-grain paddy rice were 16-18 EGP per kilogram, and wide-grain paddy rice was 17.5-18 EGP per kilogram. White rice retailed at 25-26 EGP for thin-grain and 27-29 EGP for wide-grain per kilogram.
