Egypt is bracing for a continuation of the gradual rise in temperatures across most regions on Friday, February 6, 2026, according to the latest updates from the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA). This warming trend is part of a relative mild spell affecting the country, with expectations of light rainfall in some coastal and northern areas.

Detailed Temperature Forecast

The EMA has indicated that the weather will be relatively cold during the early morning hours across most areas. This will transition to warm conditions during the daytime in Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, northern coasts, and northern Upper Egypt. Southern Sinai and southern Upper Egypt will experience even milder, warm weather. As night falls, temperatures will drop again, making the weather cold across most parts, and intensely cold in central Sinai and northern Upper Egypt.

Expected maximum temperatures in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta will range between 20-22 degrees Celsius, with minimums around 10-12 degrees Celsius. Along the northern coasts, highs are anticipated to be 19-21 degrees Celsius and lows between 9-11 degrees Celsius. In northern Upper Egypt, maximums are forecast between 21-23 degrees Celsius and minimums between 6-8 degrees Celsius. Southern Upper Egypt and South Sinai will see higher temperatures, with highs reaching 25-27 degrees Celsius and lows between 12-15 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall and Atmospheric Phenomena Outlook

In addition to the rising temperatures, forecasts suggest a slight chance of light, possibly thundery, rain over scattered areas of the northwestern coasts and northern Nile Delta, especially during the evening hours. These showers are not expected to significantly disrupt daily activities but warrant caution on highways and open areas.

The Meteorological Authority also anticipates the formation of dense water mist (fog) in the early morning over some agricultural and fast roads, and those near water bodies leading to and from Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, northern coasts, Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution and adhere to posted speed limits during these periods.

Wind Activity and Sea Conditions

Winds will generally be moderate across most regions, occasionally becoming active over parts of the northern coasts and northern Upper Egypt. This might lead to light sand and dust stirring in desert and open areas, but it is not expected to significantly impact horizontal visibility.

Regarding sea conditions, the Mediterranean Sea is expected to be light to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 1 to 1.75 meters, and surface winds from the northwest. The Red Sea will also be moderate, with wave heights between 1.5 to 2 meters, and surface winds also from the northwest. Both seas are perfectly suitable for regular maritime activities.

Public Advisory and Safety Tips

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority advises citizens to wear heavy winter clothing during the early morning and late-night hours, especially when venturing outdoors, due to the noticeable drop in temperatures during these periods. During daytime hours, lighter clothing can be worn to enjoy the warmth. It is also recommended to regularly follow weather bulletins for any updates, particularly for travelers and drivers.

The Authority emphasizes the necessity of exercising caution while driving during periods of water mist and adhering to traffic regulations to ensure public safety. These forecasts are part of the EMA's efforts to provide accurate and comprehensive information to citizens, helping them plan their daily activities safely and effectively. Staying informed through official channels is crucial for navigating the varying weather conditions.
