Local security officials in the United States have denied the Egyptian FIFA World Cup team's plan to fly directly from Vancouver to Seattle. This decision, announced by coach Hossam Hassan, comes ahead of their final group match against Iran. For what it's worth, this unexpected change adds a layer of complexity to the team's preparations.
Forced Return to Spokane
Hassan stated in a release by the Egyptian Football Association on Monday that "the security authorities refused the team’s request to stay in the city of Seattle as planned after the New Zealand match in the World Cup." Consequently, the team's delegation will now return to Spokane, located approximately 280 miles (450km) east of Seattle. The Egyptian team had formally submitted a request to remain in Seattle this week.
