Egyptian poultry and egg markets witnessed a significant price hike today, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, according to morning reports from the poultry exchange. This surge, for what it's worth, places additional strain on household budgets. White chicken prices reached 80-81 EGP per kilogram at the exchange, selling for approximately 90-91 EGP to consumers.
Red Chicken and Egg Cartons Also See Increases
The price increases were not limited to white chicken; red "Sasso" chicken also saw a rise, with a kilogram ranging between 90 and 91 EGP at the exchange, reaching 100-101 EGP for consumers. Furthermore, a carton of red eggs climbed to 103 EGP wholesale, selling for 113 EGP to consumers, while white egg cartons were priced at 100 EGP wholesale, reaching 110 EGP for consumers. These figures underscore persistent inflationary pressures within the food sector.
