The New Cairo Misdemeanor Court ruled on Saturday to fine artist Amr Diab 200 Egyptian pounds and order him to pay 10,000 pounds in compensation for allegedly assaulting and slapping young man Saad Osama at a party.

The court also acquitted Saad Osama of charges of assaulting Amr Diab during the event.

The prosecution had referred Amr Diab to the Misdemeanor Court on charges of slapping the young man at a hotel party, while also referring Saad Osama for allegedly assaulting the artist.

Earlier, investigators heard Saad Osama's testimony regarding the slapping incident involving Amr Diab at the party.

The young man claimed during the investigation that while taking a photo with Amr Diab, the artist slapped him across the face and scolded him in front of attendees.

In contrast, Amr Diab accused Saad Osama of provoking and harassing him during the event.

5 Million Pound Compensation

During his defense, Saad Osama's lawyer demanded 5 million pounds in civil compensation.

He argued that Amr Diab had slapped his client, hitting him in the most honorable part of the human body. Medical reports indicated that Saad Osama suffered from depression requiring treatment after the incident. The slap allegedly caused ongoing depression, leading the young man to take medication, isolate himself from society, and quit his job.
