X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, is significantly enhancing its user experience by integrating its AI chatbot, Grok, to personalize content timelines. Premium subscribers on iOS are gaining early access to a new feature allowing them to pin specific topics, which Grok will then use to curate the posts seen across their feeds. This strategic move aims to deliver a highly individualized browsing experience, leveraging Grok's understanding of posts and algorithmic personalization. X product head Nikita Bier highlighted that this functionality improves with user engagement on chosen topics, with Android access anticipated very soon.
Concurrently, X announced the deprecation of X Communities by May 6th due to declining usage, encouraging users to transition to group chats within the platform’s messaging service, XChat. This shift contrasts with other platforms like Threads and Mastodon, which continue to foster community-focused feeds. The integration of Grok comes amidst past controversies, including its AI-powered image generation tool facing scrutiny for inappropriate content, leading to legal action against xAI last month.
