The Turkish Parliament on Thursday issued a stern warning to Israel, demanding the immediate release of Turkish citizens and activists from the Global Resilience Fleet who were detained. This warning follows Israel's interception of a humanitarian aid convoy bound for Gaza.

Interception Deemed a "War Crime"

The Parliament approved a memorandum signed by its Speaker, Numan Kurtulmuş, stating that Israel, by brazenly violating international law once again, added another crime to its acts of genocide and war crimes. It attacked the Global Resilience Fleet, a peaceful civilian initiative, in international waters, preventing humanitarian aid and detaining 175 pro-Palestinian activists, including 20 Turkish citizens.

Call for International Action

The Turkish Parliament stressed that this act of piracy constitutes a clear war crime. In its statement, it warned Israel, which has "exceeded all limits of human tolerance," and called for the immediate release of the forcibly detained activists and Turkish citizens. The Parliament reiterated its call for all international parliaments and parliamentary associations, as well as international organizations, to adopt a unified stance to end the Israeli occupation and ensure continuous, comprehensive humanitarian aid to Gaza, holding Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity. The "Spring 2026 Mission" of the Global Resilience Fleet had sailed from Sicily, Italy, with 345 participants from 39 countries, aiming to break the Gaza blockade.
