Samsung's dedicated Messages application is scheduled for permanent deactivation in July, marking the end of its long-standing texting platform. This move necessitates that users migrate their existing message history to an alternative service, primarily Google Messages, to ensure uninterrupted daily communication. Samsung has been gradually transitioning towards Google's solution since 2021, making the switch mandatory for many users this summer.

Messaging to emergency services will reportedly continue to work on the deactivated Samsung Messages app even after its general sunset.
