The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has unveiled the details of a traffic incident and assault that occurred in Port Said, following the circulation of a social media post accompanied by a video. The post featured a complaint from a woman whose car was struck by a microbus driver traveling against traffic, resulting in damage to her vehicle and a physical assault before the driver fled the scene.

Incident Details and Investigation

Upon investigation, authorities successfully identified the woman who posted the complaint, a resident within the jurisdiction of Al-Zohour police department in Port Said. She confirmed in her statement that the incident took place on April 19, when the microbus driver drove in the wrong direction, collided with her car causing damage, and then physically assaulted her on a Port Said street before escaping. This information prompted security agencies to intensify their efforts to uncover the circumstances of the incident.

Apprehension and Legal Action

Further inquiries led to the identification and apprehension of the microbus seen in the video, which was found to have expired licenses. Police also identified the driver, an unemployed individual with a criminal record, residing within the Al-Manakh police department area. Confronted with the evidence, the suspect confessed to committing the incident as described, attributing his actions to disputes over right-of-way. The microbus has been impounded, and all necessary legal procedures have been initiated against the suspect, paving the way for his prosecution.
