MILAN — Italian startup Lorika, founded by entrepreneurs under 30, has unveiled its first product: 'Ontop' clip-on frame covers for Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses. The company aims to provide users with a way to personalize their smart eyewear and add a layer of protection.
Innovative Design for Enhanced Aesthetics
The Ontop covers are made from polycarbonate plastic frames with integrated elastic polymers for stability. One piece clips around the lens area, covering the hinges, while others attach to the arms. Crucially, these covers do not interfere with the glasses' cameras or speakers. While they add a noticeable thickness, resulting in a deliberately bolder look, they are only one millimeter thick.

Protection Meets Personalization
"If you want something else, something different on design, something more chubby, more puffy, you can get that," said Giorgio Di Cesare, CEO of Lorika. The covers are available now, costing $35 or $40 depending on the model. Di Cesare mentioned that Lorika plans to develop covers for other Meta styles and potentially for other brands in the future. "Luxottica and Meta are the giants in this field... We want to add something. We want to protect [the glasses]; we want to strengthen them," he added. The covers are compatible with both first and second-generation Wayfarer models of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
