President Donald Trump revealed on Wednesday that Iran will not proceed with the execution of eight female protesters, confirming that four of them will be released promptly. Trump stated he was informed of this development and expressed his appreciation for Iran's compliance with his request to halt the executions.
In a related development, Trump had previously announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire with Iran, a move that contrasted with earlier expectations of no extension. He attributed this decision to requests from Pakistani mediators, who are awaiting a unified proposal from Tehran to end the ongoing conflict. Trump also indicated that he had instructed the military to maintain the blockade on Iranian ports, despite the extended truce. Tehran has not yet issued an official statement regarding the ceasefire extension. Earlier, Iran had stipulated the lifting of the US blockade on its ports as a condition for participating in negotiation sessions.
