International Women's Day: Global Demonstrations Demand Greater Gender Equality
On the occasion of International Women's Day, marches and demonstrations erupted in cities worldwide, with participants raising their voices to demand greater gender equality and an end to the discrimination and violence faced by women. These events underscored global solidarity with women's issues and highlighted the persistent challenges women encounter in various societies.

Protesters carried banners bearing the slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi," meaning "Woman, Life, Freedom" in Kurdish. This slogan gained widespread recognition during the protests in Iran and has become a symbol of resistance and the struggle for women's rights and fundamental freedoms.
In Bangladesh, a group of Hijras—individuals recognized as a third gender in South Asia—participated in demonstrations in the capital, Dhaka. Despite progressive laws, this community continues to face discrimination and violence, making their participation in these marches a powerful expression of their pursuit of recognition and equality.
In South America, the Chilean capital, Santiago, was the scene of large-scale demonstrations, with streets filled with protesters demanding gender equality. Brazil also witnessed similar events. In Rio de Janeiro, women organized a symbolic performance, lying on the ground as an expression of strength and solidarity, while others carried sunflowers and placards in large urban marches.
In Paris, France, a poignant story emerged of Gisèle Pelicot and her daughter Caroline Darian, who became known for their resilience during a legal case involving sexual abuse. The mother and daughter participated in a Parisian rally, where they were warmly received by the crowds. Pelicot delivered a powerful message: "We will not give up!" emphasizing the ongoing struggle. Additionally, activists from the organization Femen used International Women's Day to stage a protest under the banner "Team Epstein: Get them all!". They demanded accountability for all involved in the extensive sex trafficking ring operated by Jeffrey Epstein, who died in prison in 2019, leaving behind a complex network of victims.
In Eastern Europe, protests took place in Odesa, Ukraine, with visible support from pets accompanying the demonstrators. In Pristina, Kosovo, a police officer stood before a group of protesters holding a banner that read, "We march for a life in dignity," reflecting the pursuit of human dignity.
