An extensive inspection campaign, led by the committee overseeing slaughterhouses, meat stalls, and meat refrigeration units, targeted several food establishments, restaurants, and shops in Beni Suef city. This initiative aligns with the governorate's directives to ensure food safety and public health. Various specialized entities, including the Directorates of Environment, Supply, Veterinary Medicine, and the Food Safety Authority, participated alongside local monitoring committees.

Unfit Meat and Health Violations Uncovered

The campaign resulted in the issuance of several reports against food establishments and specialized meat shops for failing to comply with health and environmental standards. Over 95 kilograms of fat, kofta, and liver were seized after being deemed unfit for human consumption by Food Safety Authority officials. The confiscated items were secured, and necessary legal procedures have been initiated against the violators.

Additional Breaches and Poor Storage Practices

In a related development, the campaign also confiscated 53 sacks of solidified salt without accompanying invoices from a Koshary restaurant, a clear violation of regulations governing food commodity trade. Inspectors additionally observed poor hygiene levels, non-compliance of some workers with occupational safety and health requirements, and improper, haphazard storage practices that contravene health and environmental stipulations. The governorate affirmed its commitment to continuing these surprise regulatory campaigns on markets and food establishments to safeguard citizens' health and address any violations affecting food safety.
