Glamorgan captain Kiran Carlson steered his side to a long-awaited victory over Surrey in the Rothesay County Championship at Cardiff. This seven-wicket triumph marked the Welsh team's first red-ball success against their opponents on home soil since 1983, inflicting Surrey's second defeat of the current season. Their determined play, as things stand, has certainly turned heads.

Match Highlights and Other Fixtures

Tom Lawes contributed 66 not out for Surrey, adding a creditable 49 to their overnight total, setting Glamorgan a target of 195 runs. The hosts initially struggled, with Billy Root run out after only four balls. However, Carlson stabilized the innings with a superb 67. Colin Ingram and Sean Dickson then combined efficiently to guide their team home. This victory not only boosts Glamorgan's standing but also delivers a significant psychological blow to Surrey's title aspirations.

Elsewhere in the championship, Somerset's clash with Warwickshire ended in a draw at Taunton, despite captain Craig Overton completing his third century of the season. Durham, in Division Two, delivered a sterling batting display to convert a likely draw into a six-wicket win against promotion rivals Northamptonshire, with Daniel Bedingham scoring 109 not out and Colin Ackermann an unbeaten 65. Worcestershire also turned a seemingly drawn match into a dramatic five-wicket victory over Gloucestershire, propelled by Fateh Singh's career-best figures of five for 74. Kent secured a 49-run win over Middlesex at Canterbury, highlighted by Matt Milnes' five for 31 in the second innings.
