Born on December 26, 1947, in a modest family in Sohag Governorate, El-Tayeb graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema in the early 1970s. His cinematic journey began after a five-year military service from 1971 to 1975, during which he directed the short film "Morning Newspaper" in 1971, produced by the National Center for Documentary and Short Films. This early work underscored his commitment to storytelling.

He waited until he accumulated 2000 EGP for their engagement, delaying it due to his filming commitments. They married and remained together until his passing.
