Apple is reportedly planning a broader integration of its artificial intelligence features, dubbed "Apple Intelligence," and its personal assistant Siri into iOS 27. The company intends to introduce a dedicated Siri mode within the Camera application, according to a recent report by Bloomberg. Apple is expected to officially unveil iOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 developer conference, scheduled to commence on June 8.
New Siri Mode and Enhanced Accessibility
The report suggests that Apple will add a specific "Siri mode" to the Camera app, appearing alongside traditional shooting options such as "Photo," "Video," "Portrait," and "Panorama." When this mode is activated, the "Apple Intelligence" logo will be displayed on the capture button, signaling that AI features are readily available for direct use with the camera. This new "Siri mode" in the camera builds upon the "Visual Intelligence" feature already present in some iPhone models. Apple aims to make it significantly easier to access compared to the current method, which requires a long press on the camera control button, a technique many users may not be aware of.

Expanded Visual Intelligence Capabilities
In parallel, Apple is working on updating "Visual Intelligence" to offer additional practical functionalities. These include scanning nutritional labels on products to record dietary data directly into the "Health" app. The feature will also allow users to add contact information to the "Contacts" app by scanning business cards or printed details, and to create digital versions of event tickets and cards within the "Wallet" app after scanning them. Existing options within "Visual Intelligence" will remain unchanged, such as recognizing objects like plants and animals, adding events to the calendar, and sending visual information to services like ChatGPT and Google's image search engine.
